2000 Season - Week 14

Running Away With It

Since the NFL started over 80 years ago on only two occasions have two running backs rushed for over 200 yards on the same weekend. That record was smashed on Sunday as four rushers passed 200 yards. It could have been five backs but Fred Taylor was rested by Jacksonville after the third quarter once he’d scored 3 TD’s and carried 30 times for 181 yards. Of the five Superback performances only one of these players is on a BUMS roster, Daz benefitting from Curtis Martins 203 yards and one TD. Currently slumping Mark cut Warrick Dunn who has flourished while Mike Alstott is out injured, he rushed for 210 yards and 2 TD’s. The lone Bengals bright spot Corey Dillon rushed for 216 yards and a score but his NFL Rookie Rushing Record was broken by Denver back-up Mike Anderson who gashed the excellent New Orleans defense for 251 yards and 4 scores despite missing the 3rd quarter with an injury! Where do Denver get their Running Backs from, last year with Terrell Davis out injured rookie Olandis Gary carried for 1,000 yards, this week Anderson also went over the 1,000 yard mark. Play-Off Picture Norv Turner Hs lost his job as the Redskins fell to third place in the NFC East, but they still have a chance of making the post-season.
