2000 Season - Week 8

Putting the Boot in

A final word on Chiefs kicker woes, Jeff Wilkins, the Rams kicker who scored one point before being injured is listed as likely to be out for three weeks…meanwhile the most accurate kicker in NFL history and Chiefs franchise kicker Mike Hollis made a such an unannounced recovery from his week 2 injury that he played in the MNF game between the Jags and Titans last week. In last nights TV game against Washington every time Hollis appeared there was much sniggering from H and Johnny -thanks guys. In the two games he’s been back Hollis has scored 17 points - good cut Chief. No wonder you are last. More NFL points than anyone A more positive kicker story comes from Minnesota where Daz’s Gary Anderson scored 11 points yesterday for a career total of 2004 surpassing the former record of George Blanda set in 1975. Anderson has played for 19 season’s averaging over 105 points per year. Corey Dillon’s Rushing Record Yesterday against Denver Cincinnati recorded their first win of the season courtesy of 278 yards rushing from Dillon. He beat the former NFL rushing record of 275 set by Walter Payton in 1977 but wasn’t the only Bengal to run well. Peter Warrick scored on a 77 yard run as the Bengals rushed for 407 yards against the Bronco’s number 2 ranked defence. Amazingly the Bengal QB’s completed just 2 of 14 passes for 14 net yards. Injury Updates Paul’s Franchise QB Rams Kurt Warner broke his finger against Kansas City and will be out 4-6 weeks. It was a bad day for QB’s, in the same game Elvis Grbac (Cheryl) injured his right elbow, in Chicago Cade McNown (Johnny) separated his throwing shoulder & AP’s Franchise QB John Kitna suffered a concussion. Also in the battle of Missouri Mark’s Franchise RB Marshall Faulk injured his left shoulder while Eddie George Phil’s 1st round pick carried only once for the Titans before spraining his knee. He will undergo an MRI today. Earlier in the week Phil’s lost wideout Germaine Crowell for 4-6 weeks for Detroit.
