2000 Season - Week 6
Trading Day
The BUMS gathered on Saturday to sort out rosters, cutting losers and signing winners (hopefully). The first of 2 trading days saw10 owners make changes - Dave G was too busy sunning himself on the Great Barrier Reef, whilst the top three saw no need to make any changes. Of the 25 players cut 3 were from under achieving Dallas, Green Bay, New England and Washington, whilst 4 new starters were signed from over-achieving Miami, 3 of whom were signed by Mad Dog Stamp - good to see him wearing his Turquoise Heart on his Orange sleeve (inappropriate football colours for a scary defence). See attached.
Apology to Paul
Somewhere in his Sydney chaos Chief managed to give kicker John Hall 3 points after the NY Jets scored 21 points against Tampa. Sadly in his haze of confusion he failed to spot the 21 were not made up of 3 touchdowns but 2 field goals and 2 TD’s one with a PAT and one with a 2 point conversion. Paul ahs now been awarded the extra 4 points (like he needs them, he’s already 98 ahead of me) and the Chief would like to go on record as saying “things were a little bit topsy turvey there for a month or so, but now I’m the right way up again I do not expect to see anymore Hahn or Coldie induced errors. (Sadly - as both are top Aussie brews). However if you do spot another mistake please write to the usual address and Chief will sort it out asap - No Worries, Mate.
New Top Dog
When writing about Trading Day last week I signed off the newsletter with the phrase “to execute our plans to catch Mark”. Well it didn’t take long as after a month at the top the current champ has been caught and passed by Paul who takes the lead for the first time. As you will see from the League table, as in previous years scores will be sent out prior to the Monday Night Game from now on so Paul’s lead could be short lived dependent on the performance of Tampa’s running backs against Minnesota tonight.
Monday Night Football returns to Wednesday
As all BUMS return to these shores we will be gathering in West London on Wednesday evenings to watch the MNF game broadcast by Channel 5 earlier that day. This week we are at Johnny’s to watch the aforementioned top of the NFC Central clash starting at 7pm, followed by the England game against Finland on BBC1. Sunday at H’s in Perivale a Sky Doubleheader starts at 6pm with the Ravens & Redskins followed by Cardinals & Eagles.
