2000 Season - Week 3

Can I Kick It

No he can’t. A kicker injury epidemic has broken out this week-end. As kickers are the highest scoring position any long term injuries could have a scramble for new kickers come week 6 trading day. Of 14 owners 6 of them had no kicker playing this week. Al Del Greco (Cheryl) and Mike Vanderjagt (Dave G) didn’t play due to bye weeks for Tennessee and Indianapolis. As previously reported Todd Peterson (John’s Franchise kicker) was a shock cut for salary cap reasons in Seattle. John’s hopes of Todd kicking in Denver were dashed when the Bronco’s signed Joe Nedney to replace Phil’s Jason Elam who is out with a back injury sustained making a tackle in week 2. Now Washington’s Brett Conway (Daz) is out with a sore right quad, an injury which kept him out most of pre-season. The Redskins signed Michael Husted to a one year deal prior to their Monday night game with Dallas. Also out in week 3 is the NFL’s all-time most accurate kicker Mike Hollis. He has had back surgery and there is still no news on how long he will be out for. Jacksonville’s kick-off specialist Steve Lindsey is handling the duties. This after Gareth’s franchise man set the season high score of 19 points in week 2. David will be in big trouble if his kicker goes down injured. Steve Christie has scored 67% of his points totalling 21 points to the rest of the teams 11. Champion sets the standard Mark has opened up a substantial lead after 3 weeks as the current champion hit a season best 40 points this week-end. Since picking Marshall Faulk up on Trading Day last year Mark has ridden the St Louis Running Back with great success. Making him a £3million franchise man has paid off, this year Faulks 6 touchdowns give him 36 points, more than the entire scores of both John’s and David Stamp’s teams.
